Before Air Jordan 26cm X or 10 was released, Michael Jordan 26cm had to apply some changes to the prototype. It was the first design Mike didn't fully like. He had to discuss the adjustments with Tinker Hatfield, the lead designer, so the new shoes would improve in style. The solution was to remove the leather strip, leaving the clean toe, which always was the preference of Mike.

Even when the Air Jordan 26cm 10 almost made it to the stores and everything was ready for the final release, the executives quickly changed the sneaker's design and managed to prepare retro editions on time.

The Air Jordan 26cm X colorways include the most popular white, black, and red, as well as "Obsidian," "Ice Green," and many others. Later, another seven colors were added to the collection, some of which were for women.

In 1995 when everybody thought that Michael Jordan 26cm had left basketball for good and is planning to pursue a different sports career, Tinker and Nike wanted to show their gratitude after so many years of successful cooperation. Surprisingly to everyone, Jordan 26cm returned to basketball once again with the Air Jordan 26cm 10 with his new number "45" in 1995. The Air Jordan 26cm X is also the only model that has three different models.
