Dopamine dressing

What color will we wear this year?

Trends are a reflection of our needs, a reaction to current events. The world has not been in the best shape recently - hence the rapidly growing popularity of 'dopamine dressing'. The term was first used by Carolyn Mair, author of The Psychology of Fashion. Dopamine dressing, i.e. colorful total looks or additives in the most energizing colors, are to stimulate the production of dopamine - colloquially known as the happiness hormone - responsible for a pleasant feeling of reward or motivation.

Although the scientific approach to fashion is still a fairly recent topic, research into the psychological aspects of color has been around for a long time and has long been used, inter alia, in public spaces, in marketing communication, when building emotions in film frames or among image specialists advising the world's largest politicians. See for yourself the power of color and choose your favorite now.

The flag color of the crazy 70s, adored by hippies celebrating freedom and joy, reminiscent of psychedelic experiences is one of the most desirable colors of this year. Until recently, it was most commonly found on the inside of bomber jackets worn by pilots and was designed to attract the eye and speed up help in the event of an accident.

Today, orange can be worn from head to toe as a fashionable total look and can be safely combined with other colors. Accessories in juicy citrus shades reign in the best styles on the streets of the world. The most energizing of colors has appeared on the runways of Bottega Veneta, Jacquemus and Lanvin.

The popularity of orange does not end with streetwear, sports and technical clothing, but also enters the salons in more elegant combinations. Is orange the new black?

When asked about your favorite color, it is said that blue is statistically the most frequently given answer. From shades that evoke a carefree vacation by the water to the elegant shade of indigo, this year belongs to blue. The Pantone Institute announced that in 2022 we will be surrounded by colors reflecting the pursuit of balance, the need for comfort, safety, but also the desire for spontaneity and optimism.

With the return of Y2K fashion and nostalgia for the iconic styling of the hottest couple of those years, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, there will be a fresh look at denim in its iconic shades. Check out the offers of brands that know jeans from the inside out - such as Diesel, Dsquared2 or Amiri.

There will also be 'logomania', which is rightly associated with the turn of the century - denim sets with a stunning monogram print can be found in the latest Versace collection and on the iconic pants models from Dsquared2. Wear them in an elegant version with a classic blue shirt or in a sports ersion - with comfortable sneakers and a hoodie.

Did you know that rose began to be synonymous with girlhood only in the 1980s? Forty years later, the fashion industry screams: fashion has no gender. Same as color. Pink is no longer attributed to just good girls or naughty early 21st century it-girls. Not without reason pink - hand in hand with the 'no gender' trend - is gaining popularity among self-confident men.

Ultimately, it's up to us to decide what we wear and what we feel good about. Society (finally!) stops shoving us into tight roles and we are able to discover who we truly are. You can create pink stylizations thanks to the latest designs of brands such as Dsquared2, Vetements and Nanushka. According to the WGSN and Coloro agencies, the color of the spring-summer season will be the saturated magenta tone of 'Orchid Flower', which delights both in nature and in digital metaversum.

The future looks bright. An ideal option for beginners, less daring or simply declared minimalists. Neutral shades are as timeless as classic black. The hit of this season will be monochrome stylizations in whitened and cool colors: vanilla, cream, powder or in the color of oat milk.

Experiment by mixing and matching different materials, textures and shades. Get inspired by the looks of brands such as Balmain, Balenciaga or Bottega Veneta.

Make room in your wardrobe for light-colored suits, cream sneakers and sand-colored T-shirts. Check out the latest Jacquemus and Nanushka campaigns and see that calm, neutral colors have nothing to do with boredom!

The world has gone crazy about green thanks to Daniel Lee, who became Creative Director of Bottega Veneta in 2018. Instagram was flooded with photos of grass tennis courts, matcha on ice and ... Bottega Veneta shoe boxes.

But when Daniel Lee announced his retirement in late 2021, the whole world froze, asking ... what's next with green? This year, the green at fashion shows has acquired new shades: light and juicy like limes, inspired by nature, earthy and olive, previously associated with outdoor clothing, up to the absolute hit of the SS22 season - pastel shades of sage and butter.

They are accompanied by the growing popularity (especially among TikTok users, who are the first to catch new trends) aesthetics of 'goblincore', drawing inspiration from forest fauna and flora. Green can be both soothing and energetic. It symbolizes hope, and hope is always worth having. Are you ready to play the green game? Play with Vetements, Acne Studios and Stone Island.

Until recently, relegated rather to the background as a relic of the last decades of the 20th century, associated mainly with the iconic Burberry plaid and worn leather jackets ... Over the years, overshadowed by the popularity of dark black and calm beige ... This year brown returns to the catwalks in a big way and will definitely be in the lead role!

There are many options to choose from: from chestnut and dark shades of chocolate to lighter, caramel or sand colors. Bronze has become the new favorite of designers, including men's fashion. See the latest designs from Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Gucci and Nanushka.
