After suffering a fall off his boat in the 1930s, Paul Sperry of Sperry Topsider worked to invent a shoe with anti-slip properties. Drawing inspiration from his dog’s paw pads that never seemed to slip, he designed a simple laced-upper placed atop a patterned rubber sole and thus, the world’s first non-slip boat shoes were born. Known today as the Cloud CVO, the shoes feature genuine leather linings and footbeds for an extra high-quality touch.
